Lower Back

Degenerative Disc Disease Treatment That Targets the Cause, Not Just the Pain

Your back pain dominates your day. Sitting is your worst enemy, standing isn’t much better, and you’ve tried everything without lasting relief. You’re not out of options.

We assess the whole chain, not just the sore spot.

Your hips, core, posture and spinal mechanics are all part of the picture.

Regenerative technology plus targeted strengthening.

Focused shockwave and EMTT to stimulate healing, combined with exercises that stabilize your spine.

Long-term support so your results last.

Progressive aftercare and home exercise programming to keep pressure off your discs for good.

60-minute one-on-one assessment + treatment plan.

No pressure, no contracts.

Is This You?

If any of this sounds familiar, you're in the right place.

Chronic lower back pain that gets worse with sitting, standing, or bending

You’ve tried physio, massage, injections, or medication without lasting relief

Stiffness and sciatica that flares when you sit too long or skip your exercises

A desk job or physical occupation that keeps aggravating your back

You want non-surgical options that actually address why your discs are degenerating, not just cover up the pain

What To Expect

What Results Can I Expect?

Every case is different, but research and our clinical experience consistently show:

Many patients begin to notice pain relief within 1 to 4 weeks of starting treatment. Some feel improvement after the very first shockwave session.

Improved ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift as function returns. Research shows these gains in daily activity are consistent across multiple studies.

A realistic path to avoid or delay surgery. By addressing the mechanical and biological drivers of your disc degeneration.

Our promise: we will tell you honestly at the assessment if we don’t believe you’re a good candidate for this approach.

EVIDENCE

The Research Behind Our Approach

Focused shockwave therapy has been shown to significantly reduce pain and improve function in chronic low back pain, confirmed by a systematic review and meta-analysis of multiple randomized trials.

EMTT (electromagnetic therapy) significantly reduced pain in patients with chronic musculoskeletal conditions compared to placebo in a recent double-blind randomized controlled trial.

Exercise-based rehabilitation, including core stabilization and aquatic therapy, consistently reduces pain and improves function in degenerative disc patients across multiple systematic reviews.

In animal studies, shockwave therapy combined with traction restored disc height, increased protective proteins in the disc, and reduced destructive enzyme activity.

Massage therapy has been shown to provide superior short-term pain relief compared to sham treatment for chronic low back pain, with benefits sustained at one-year follow-up when combined with exercise.

Outcomes are group averages from clinical trials; individual results vary.

Degenerative Disc ChangesFAQ

Here are answers to some of the most common questions about Degenerative Disc Changes.

6 results found

Is shockwave therapy effective for degenerative disc disease?

Research shows focused shockwave therapy significantly reduces chronic low back pain and improves daily function. It works by stimulating growth factors and new blood vessel formation in spinal tissues, which supports healing. We typically use 3 to 5 sessions in the initial treatment phase and many patients report noticeable relief within the first 1 to 2 sessions. We assess whether shockwave is right for your case during your initial visit.

Can weak core muscles or past surgeries cause disc degeneration?

Yes. When deep core muscles can’t properly support your spine, excessive load shifts onto your discs. This is especially common in patients who’ve had abdominal surgeries like C-sections, hernia repairs, or tummy tucks, where the core muscle sheath has been disrupted. Addressing core stability is a central part of our approach. We map this out in your first visit.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

This varies by case, but a typical initial plan involves 3 to 5 shockwave sessions, up to 10 EMTT sessions, and 10 to 12 guided physiotherapy sessions over approximately 8 to 12 weeks. If you respond quickly, we may reduce sessions. If progress plateaus, we may extend. We personalize your plan and discuss the full timeline at your assessment.

Why does my back pain keep coming back?

Discs don’t regenerate on their own, so if the underlying problems aren’t fixed, pain returns. Continued sitting without core support, lapsing on exercises, or poor nutrition can all allow degeneration to accelerate. That’s why our program includes long-term strengthening and aftercare, not just short-term pain relief. We review your specific recurrence patterns during your initial assessment.

Is shockwave therapy safe for my spine?

Focused shockwave therapy is a non-invasive, well-studied treatment for chronic back pain. It has been evaluated in multiple randomized controlled trials with consistent safety profiles. That said, it’s not appropriate for everyone. We screen for red flags such as fractures, severe nerve compression, and other contraindications before recommending any treatment.

I’ve tried everything and still have pain. Is there hope?

Many of our patients come to us after years of unresolved back pain and multiple failed treatments. The difference with our approach is that we combine regenerative technologies like shockwave and EMTT with targeted core rehabilitation, addressing both the symptoms and the mechanical causes of your degeneration. We’ll tell you honestly whether we believe we can help during your assessment.
